July 4th was the perfect day to celebrate 2 of life's milestones: a marriage and a housewarming. Not too bad considering that it's only been about 2 months since we married and Kurt and the kids moved in (let's forget the fact that I moved in a-year-and-a-half ago).
Most of my family was able to attend but, unfortunately Kurt's couldn't make it. Still, it was some consolation that the following Monday we left with the kids to spend a week in Virginia Beach and the Outer Banks with his family. And, in addition to most of our local friends joining us, we had several friends make the trip from out of state. Even Marguerite, the executor of the estate when I had purchased it and a good friend of the previous owners, was able to attend. The knowledge she shared regarding the house, property, and the former residents was helpful and, as always, enjoyable to hear.
It was heart-warming to see my home alive with family, friends, laughter, and celebration. Here are some photos that my brother and sister-in-law took:

I always get it wrong!), and their mom, Grace.

After the party, many of us made our way down to "the overlook" to view 3 towns' fireworks shows. It was the perfect end to a lovely day...
