The sights as I drove through town this morning on my way to work were gut-wrenching: metal roofs torn off their structures lay like crumpled can tops on people's lawns; several split and twisted trees crushed their neighboring houses; logs cut from fallen trees were pushed to the side of the road; and the wet, gray embers of flares outlined the area where a huge tree had crashed down on a truck with 2 men in it.
Fortunately for us, the only trees that came down on our property were in the road and simply knocked some power lines down. We'll be out of power (and water, since we have a well) at home for about a day or so, but we're very thankful that it's not worse. Here are a few photos taken by a friend of mine:
