First fox...

Over the summer, while edging around some persistent crab in a man-made tidal pool, I had the misfortune of dropping my camera. Nothing I was able to do could dry out it's water-clogged workings.

For Christmas, I was able to purchase myself a new camera through the generosity of my in-laws.

As I stood outside this morning watching fluffy flakes fall from the winter sky, I thought, "gee, I should go get my camera and take some photos of Sammy and Cleo in the snow." But before I could do this, movement at the corner of my eye caught my attention.

There, in the middle of my harvest field, corn stalks long gone, stood a large, lone fox. It saw me, but instead of taking off at a run, it took off at a more leisurely pace as if giving me a chance to run indoors to grab my camera. Mesmerized, I did nothing except watch it lope towards my archery alley, then down over the embankment.

It's the first fox I've seen on my land...wish I'd had my camera in hand...
